Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
This past week has been a rollercoaster. I found out that although I definitely have bilateral inguinal hernias, they're not serious enough to need surgery just yet. This will hopefully give me more time to get motivated to lose some serious weight. As it stands the right side is the worst. If it should need surgery anytime soon , I am not a candidate for a laproscopic repair. At my current size an open procedure is the only option. Also while seeing my primary doc I mentioned a growth that has changed on my face. Now they want to do a biopsy. If it is malignant and melanoma then I have to find out if it has spread. I've already told someone that if it's really spread I'd elect to not have it treated. I would just get medications for pain. But I'm reconsidering this decision. First it's premature. Secondly and most important is that it is selfish of me not to consider what my loved ones might want. So I'll wait and see. If hard choices need to be made. They'll take the feelings of others into consideration. Oh yeah and the doc is still nagging me to set up my colonoscopy. This will be either my sixth or seventh one in like 15 years. I thought I might get a break considering this other stuff. But NOOOOO !!!!! The doc says I have to get this done on top of everything else. Yeah I know. I need to man up and do what needs being done. Thanks for listening to my rant. Oh yeah there's something in my latest journal entry that you might find helpful. I am fortunate to be healthy and give Thanks to God every day for that blessing. I do have a Living Will on file with my doctor and there are no others whose feelings have to be considered.
I have only had one colonoscopy and that was 10 years ago. I cannot imagine you having had so many.
By all means, give some serious thought and prayer to this. Consider a second opinion. And get serious about losing some weight. You did not get this way overnight so it will take time to get back to a healthy weight.

You already know how I feel about things. Yes, let's not jump ahead on the place on your face and go to the worst case scenario. I know the fear and those feelings, because you know I've had squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer on my chest, and the waiting for the biopsy report had my mind going to ' those places' and I had the surgery and it wasn't bad and he got all the margins and that was 5 years ago and I've been fine since. I really really want you to get the colonoscopy, so I'm all far your doctor harping and harping on you to get it done, and I don't mind harping alittle more as you well know. Because I care about your health and love you.

That's generally true . However, if you have any polyps, like I did with my first colonoscopy last year ( even though the one I had was benign ), they tell you that you need one in 5 years. I guess maybe if you also have a family history of colon cancer along with any polyps, it may be reason for even more frequent testing.
