I deleted my FaceBook totally. Since 2008-2018 I was on it. 10 years of my life. 10 years of data. I always watched what I posted and said. Meh.
Hopefully FaceBook really did delete my content. However, I am sure I have said nothing that bad, and am not ashamed of anything I said.
I am on Twitter still. Only really to read the news. I sometimes add my smart alec comment here and there.
Everyone else needs to not be nosing in my business. Putting your life on the internet is a good way to attract predators.
Also, I find Facebook strange. Like why would I want my family to be able to see who I am friends with? Or why would I want my friends to see who else I am friends with? Or worse, why would I want my coworkers to know anything about my personal life?? It's like giving up all control over my life.
I don't even know what the other social medias are. I am not a photographer with a lot of free time or a computer, so no.
Do I think cellphones are a bad thing? No, wonderful invention. How ppl use them? Not always smart.
I join in on Twitter but not there for followers or friends. In fact I made an anonymous account. Not my name and haven’t added anyone I know in physical life. I like it that way because I can really say what I think.
I like people’s smart alec comments but I don’t get too involved or too personal.
I suppose we have to keep it at a safe distance for us. Don’t want to get screwed up over online stuff.
“We live in an era of smart phones and stupid people”
Same with the line between "sharing happy news" and being "boastful".
None of this is new in the world, phone chains have been the socially acceptable way to gossip for forever.
Is social media healthy? I ask myself, if I hear the news that Mary's son got into legal trouble...will I bring soup or give her a supportive call? If so, then it's healthy. If I think that karma caught up with her (for being a bad parent or having views different than my own), then it's not.
With that being said, taking a break from your regular routine is probably a wise choice particularly if you're starting to notice any negative effects its having on you whether emotionally, mentally and/or physically. But to point out one of your concerns, the idea of not measuring up is often cited by more than a handful of Facebook and Instagram users. I believe every one of us must be careful not to fall into the comparison trap for each of us has our own special and unique gifts and talents to share with the world.
Try to focus on your blessings and what you have inside of you that perhaps other people may need from you at any given moment. Life on social media gets easier when viewed from that perspective, I think. By the way, keep sharing those cute pics with meaningful messages and letting your personality shine through. You brought a smile to my face. Blessings my friend!
