Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I sleep on average 11-12 hours a night and also may nap during the day. It is so debilitating that I cant even hold down a job. So I DO understand how you are feeling. I too do not get any joy out of life, no matter how wonderful one may think it would be.
AND all the things that we NEED to do...it is simply overwhelming!
But what concerns me the most is your needing to hide you meds. Look, I have been there too. I had it all planned out and was completely ready to give up. Not because I wanted to die, but because I just wanted to escape the pain.
But please, please hang on. It will get more manageable. You definitely need to contact your psychiatrist as it may be time for a med change or additional meds. There are things we can do to get out of this deep dark hole of hopelessness.
Just remember, you are NOT alone!

I so feel you. I slept twelve hours last night and have napped already today. I just try to do what's best for my body, which helps me do what's best for my mind and overall physical and mental health.
I agree with some of the folks who have suggested taking medications at specific times of day. I recently began with a new psychiatrist, who was appalled that no one had told me that certain medications would make me drowsy while others would act in the opposite way. It's more complicated to manage, but now I take pills twice a day as opposed to once, and I have noticed a slight change in how I am reacting to them. I do need a lot of sleep, and I do need a lot of down time, but listening to my body has helped me hold down a part time job for well over a year, and has allowed me to support myself even with these things hanging over my head.
I don't want to be a braggart, I am just hoping that this is helpful. Definitely talk to your doctor about appropriate medication timing...it's something I was so unaware of until a few weeks ago, and I can already feel the changes!
