Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I hope you continue to feel better
Are you taking meds and/or doing therapy?
We are on very parallel courses (debt, t2 diabetes, living alone, friendless, etc.); I grew up in S.Jersey (that, in & of itself can be depressing!)...
I'm not sure what to tell you about obtaining happiness as this is such an elusive/ambiguous term that differs individually...some of the advice that's been already submitted is probably a good start; maintaining your health (diabetes, etc.), getting quality rest/sleep, eating healthy should be vital & is the nucleus of coping with your situation & making any progress towards coping & dealing with life's struggles...
It sounds like you are striving to obtain some semblance of self-fullment which sounds like you have some hope; I suggest therapy, if you can; writing/blogging or other outlets for self-expression...it is also positive to hear that suicide is not an option for you...
Secondly I totally understand the feeling of shame involved with depression and feeling under the weather. You are speaking from the place of depression -- I'm not going to lie and say it will get better but I will say do keep trying.
I don't know what your personal lifeboat is -- for me it is the truth and enjoying the good things in life which are there most of the time even when there are very bad things.
Kind people, beautiful flowers, animals - children -- a good laugh for no reason.
Congratulations on shutting down your cards, depression and loneliness can make us overspend trying to feel better as I'm sure you know.
Once the support group gets fired up again you may find you feel a bit better and more positive and then can make a few friends.
Good luck with it all.
Sending my best,
dj

I am sure that you have helped and will continue to help many people.
I am sure that your family would hate to know that you feel that they would be better off without you.
Have you talked to your mom and sister? As far as the debt thing, I just went through this with a client.
She had racked up quite a lot of bills.
I was told that in order to stop the bankruptcy process it is best to not pay small amts. on accounts. See if there is a Legal Assistance agency in your area.
In any event you sound like such a nice person. Feel free to p.m. me any time. I and many others here understand how easy it is to want to give up.
