Shingles

Has any of you here on DS had "Shingles"?

I was diagnosed with these last Tues. and they are very, very close to my eye. The doctors say if they get in my eye, I can have vision loss.

Any comments or input?

Ive had shingles. I had them on my chest and back down the left side so Im not sure about the eyes, it normally effects just one side of the body.
They spread quite quickly but stop and then they become itchy. I have scars over my chest where I scratched them.

Not sure if this is any help or not.
Hope they clear up soon.

I had singles about 10 yrs ago on my hip. All I can say is that it hurt like crazy. Mine cleared up in about a month with no after effects.

My friend had a roommate who had the face type. The doctors just watched it closely. It got around her eye but never the eyeball. I think they give prednisone for bad cases. Does that sound right? I had it on my lower back and it hurt like the dickens. I walked around with tears standing in my eyes. At night the sheets hurt. And my outbreak was mild, covered a small area of my body and only lasted a few weeks. (the scales lasted longer).

Yea....I had shingles about 3years ago on my inner thigh & down my leg.They were very painful & i was off work for about 6weeks (dr advised me as the girl in my office was pregnant at the time)they cleared up but sometimes I still get pain where I had them.....Dunno bout eyes though sorry....xx
