NO SURPRISE IF U R ON GENERIC.
I HAVE 2 ADD ABILIFY 2 MY GENERIC ZOLOFT.
NOT MUCH BETTER EVEN WITH THE ABILIFY.
CANT DRIVE ANYMORE OR WALK LONG DISTANCES.
TIRED AND LOOPY ALL THE TIME.
AFRAID 2 SHOWER CAUSE I MIGHT FALL.
TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT U R GOING THRU.

Sertraline IS a generic for ZOLOFT and others. I have been taking it for many years. It is the most prescribed antidepressant in the world. I supplement it with Mirtazapine ... and these medications or SOMETHING is working ... very, very well.

In any case, ... discuss your medications with your DOCTOR. Take no advice from anyone else.

If it's not helping after a year I would certainly talk to the doc about trying a different antidepressant. Any individual AD only works for 55% to 60 % of those who try it. No way to know which one will work for you.
It's trial and error.

I went through 5 different SSRIs and SNRIs before they put me on Wellbutrin [ an AD completely different from the others]. I had some
relief from a couple of the others but all made me tired all the time.

Wellbutrin is energizing , so much that some people cant take it because it raises their anxiety. It helped my depression so much that my anxiety went down.

Your doc can help decide which might work best for you .

I agree with the other post that if it's not working after a year, you should definitely try a different med. I was on Zoloft for several years and it worked fairly well, but started lacking effect eventually. There are several old and new antidepressants that may work better for you.
