This is truely a sad day! I am hoping that Doug and the others in charge of this site will find a way to make this a safe place again.

I'm just one click away from following suit with Jana and Isis. I've already found Isis on another site. I'm tired of the dude with the multiple personalities that taunts this community and the message board here and I tired of an administration that can't seem to put a stop to his return day after day under a new username. I didn't expect to like everybody on this website and I didn't expect everyone to like me but I did expect them to respect my space as I've respected theirs.

It's a shame that people are leaving this site because of 1-2 people.But there are some here including myself that don't know who you're referring to, so one day I guess we'll be targeted to.

Just in defense of Doug and the other administrators that support DS.... doing what you are asking is very, very difficult. You would have to be familiar with all of the methods that are available to allow a person to evade attempts to "block" their access to a site, but they are many and generally much easier to implement than the techniques available to "block" one user on the Internet. I understand your frustration with the harassment, but I think your indignation that Doug hasn't "done something" is unfair. There is only so much that can be done. Unless you want him to start taking down credit card numbers and registering users, this is extremely tough, if not impossible.

Sorry for your aggravation over this, but if your support network on this community is important enough, then you'll just have to ignore the unwelcome posts and messages and focus on the welcome ones. Is real life any different?

I am very sad to see that Jana and Isis have left DS. Jana helped me just the other day with something I posted and I always look forward to the messages and hugs I would recieve from Isis. I've been tryign to fight of the sadness I'm feeling tonight and reading about people leaving does nothing to improve my mood.

Mario-- I have to totally disagree with you. This is a preditor, a criminal, not just the bully on the playground. We have tried ignoring, we have reported and Doug has deleted ID's just to have more emerge from this criminal. It is beyond simply a schoolyard recess bully and there are times when it is time to get legal and trace the preditor. Can be done.

Sure I'd love to ignore him - but I've received messages - he seeks ME out - not vice versa!

I understand and sympathize - honestly. I just am not sure what remedy is really available for the DS administrators to track someone down? That would usually require the cooperation of a lot of organizations that owe you nothing (their time, their information) and aren't famous for jumping in and helping when these types of things occur. I guess I'm also hard-pressed to understand what "law" this person has broken that would allow for legal action? This is a totally voluntary web site that no one is forced to login to or read anything. Maybe there is something that could be leveraged, but it's not obvious to me? :(

Anyway, I'm certainly no expert on all of this, but I am more than casually familiar with the inner-workings of the Internet and I guess I just wanted to point out the very high degree of difficulty Doug and his team would have in trying to keep up with a determined person. I assume that they are doing everything that they reasonably can and that we will have to accept the fact that there are limits to what can be done trying to control this.

Anyway, again, I am truly sorry for the harassment you have experienced. Don't mean to minimize it. Just wanted everyone to be sympathetic to the herculean task they have trying to deliver the results you're asking for.

Mario is right. The admin. staff have a tough job on their hands. I have spoken with Doug and he has asked me to be patient, as they are seriously working on this problem, and have been all day. I'm going to take his advice, and marios, and see what happens. I really don't want to leave, but I have no time or patience for this garbage. We shall see.

The sad thing to me at this point is, what damage has already been done and problems ignored. Otherwise, this has been a wonderful place to be. But you can't expect people to stay unless for some reason you don't want them to, if they feel and are threatened by taunting and harrassment. And I mean, purposeful, targeted, and entirely inappropriateness, not just disagreements. If that's the kind of people they want and allow here, it's not the place for me - I've had enough of that kind of "tolerance" in my life elsewhere.
