Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Also please remember that 'church folk' are also human. They can sometimes be more judgmental for some reason that I have not figured out (I am a church folk by the way!), but they all mess up too. Any of them that says that they do not are lying! (Lying, over eating, etc) So what if a friend talks about going to a bar? And if someone starts going a little to bible crazy just change the subject. Making a joke out of it sometimes works.
I do hope that you have or find a really good friend and not have to even worry about all this drama again. At least not with the true ones.
Is there any sign that those church people have changed their attitude? Or are they out there ready to start another drama and do the same thing, and this time on your birthday? I'm quite sure you don't want unnecessary drama to be what you want to remember your birthday for.
Furthermore, if these church people have a problem with people you hang out with, then they don't seem to have a realistic idea of who you are. If they don't like the friends you have fun with then the don't seem to be the kind of people that want to hang out with you.
You cannot please everyone, especially people who already have shown that they can create drama from a simple conflict. HAVE FUN. It's your birthday. Don't lose focus of what this event is about.
