I have been on Mirtazapine for about a year with good results. I believe Remeron is just a brand name of the generic Mirtazapine. Probably Mirtazipine is cheaper. I am certain they are identical.

I was on remeron for 8 years and due to insurance reasons had to switch to mirtazapine. My anxiety is going through the roof and was just wandering if anybody else had this when they switched and if i try to wait it out if it will get better.

Like I mentioned, .. they are the same thing. Go to www.google.com and search for mirtazapine. You will find info indicating they are the same medication.

It will have absolutely ZERO effect. It's not quite the same as the different brands of food.

Basically, there is NO generic mirtazapine. A drug company HAS to make it. But quite often the tablet just gets called by it's brand name.

Eg: In the UK we frequently will ask for "Fanta" instead of "Fizzy Orange". The fanta is the brand, the contents of the bottle are fizzy orange.

In the UK we tend to go more for the generic names.. presriptions will almost always be generic names. EG: Fluoxetine instead of Prozac.

And more often that not my medication will sometimes be a mix of different brands. The pills are all the same with all the same stuff in them.

So don't worry about it - there's absolutely no no different.
