Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Newspapers featured the sad story of an 18 year old boy who committed suicide.
The story was very sad. A new college student, asked his roomate to use the dorm room on a Saturday night. Unbenowst to him, his roomate set up a web-cam which broadcast the sexual dalliance to over 100 students. Worse he was gay and apparently no one knew. Shamed to students and perhaps family and seeing no way out, he killed himself. Undoubtedly this was tremendously stressful, but could he have seen it differently.
While he may have worried about his parents, their response would probably have been sympathy. Almost every parent worries about his child and any anger gives way to the natural desire to help. Seeing your child suffer is worse than your own problems.
He was probably worried about parents learning of his sexual preference but again after some anger and disappaointment, they would probably have accepted it, and could have lived without his preference disclosed and ultimately accepted. Acquitances would probably have sympathized and lawsuits, administrative and criminal action may have punished the culprits.
The point is that things can be bad, but people can recover, and sometimes bad things can lead to a reshaping of a life.

His parents were probably the last thing on his mind. In college or not..he is still a kid. A shy kid trying to adjust to college..cramming for tests and keeping up with the work load.
Many children and even adults just cant handle being bullied. Bullied is putting it mildly with what this boy went through.
My heart goes out to him. I only wish that he had the good friends and talked to his parents about his sexuality so that those around him who loved him..could have atleast tried to help him. Like you...I feel that this is tragic. For him to have suffered the way he had to and for his family and friends who are still trying to make sense of it all.
This roomie of his needs to be charged with involuntary manslaughter or something to make him accountable for what he did. Sad story with a very sad ending.
Why would ANYONE think that it is ok to humiliate another human being?????
Why would ANYONE even think to do that?????
Why would people want to watch another person in an intimate setting, knowing the person was unaware that he or she was being filmed.
Why???? Because our culture has something very insidious happening and it's getting worse.
Jail for that roommate. JAIL.
