Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I think you have the right to go places, but if it involves a dangerous trip or having someone drive you, those might be limiting factors. I wonder why they think you might get hurt if you go? Is there any possibility of staying overnight at the friend's house so you can come back in daylight?
I think that if your parents are contributing to your depression and you have the capacity to move out, you should. If you are not able to move out, then you might have to abide by their rules. I don't want to influence you, or make you feel worse, but it sounds like they don't respect you and want to keep you as a child. But if there are reasons, then you might not have a choice.
So big hugs from me. Think about some ways to make it possible to go, instead of just accepting this, and getting depressed. I wouldn't blame you for getting depressed if they are just trying to control you. It's one of the reasons I ran away from home at age 17 and never went back. My brother stayed home and still lives there at age 56, and has dependent personality disorder.
I hope someone else has some ideas to help.
I guess the biggest thing is don't let it make you depressed. Find something else to do that you like - and don't give up hope! Tomorrow is another day.
