I've had major depressive disorder for a long time, but recently my depressive episodes come with psychotic symptoms. I am a psych major so I'm a little concerned about taking my own knowledge into account. But I have delusions that are congruent with my mood, for example usually when I get extremely low I begin to consider myself non-human, or a monster, before it was just the feeling but now during episodes I'm convinced it's true and what's worse is that I become paronoid others can see it and that they are judging or watching me, this spirals into hallucinations of people watching or whispering about around me, and seeing myself with demonic features, obviously this makes me panic and I then experience catatonia and other mannerisms like trying to plug my ears or curling up or clawing my arms without realizing it. I know I should broach this subject with someone but I'm not sure how to begin. I have a psychiatrist who I see every other month for brief check ups on medication but no one else. It's happened during class and I'm worried about how bad it could get. I'm just very scared and very confused, any advice?

Then I am sure you are educated in progressive schizophrenia and other SUCH conditions .... AND most are effectively treated with medication.
This is no way for someone to live ... and a medication can relieve you and give you a normal life.
GET YOURSELF evaluated, diagnosed, and treated. Tell your psych EVERYTHING you have posted. This is a serious thing with a (probably) simple solution.
You need to make an appt. with your Pdoc, asap, not wait until your next scheduled one, and explain to him what's going on, just like you explained to us. He'll know what to do with the information you give him.
That's the best, "next step" you can take. Make sure he knows its an urgent situation that you need to see him for and it cannot wait.

It will get worse and if you have a psychotic break you might lose all awareness start running around campus naked with purple videoing you naked acting crazy and posting it On line for all the world to see just how crazy you are
The shame humiliation once you recover will be intense it might cause you to have to move areas
Just so you know a psychotic break is a very scary thing, they section you in hospital with other nuts who take advantage of your vulnerability, and tell you scary things, the staff treat you badly and the medications will be at maximum overdose which will send you more insane for a number of months
I hear if you can prevent a psychotic break the pay offs for long term recovery from psychosis are huge
After a few years On anti psychotic look into Joanna moncrief and look into reducing to the lowest necessary dose or weaning off
Seriously take action today before you become unaware that your ill and you do something criminal or crazy
