Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am reading a book on anger management and it suggests you make a contract and sign it and have another person sign it as a witness. Their contract is to not show anger for one day, but I think it's a great idea and you can do the same think with the idea of not giving in to suicidal ideations.
Anyway, even without the contract, you can even promise for just one day at a time if that feels more doable, and renew your promise on a daily basis. That's a lot of how AA works, people just focus on getting through one day without drinking. Pretty soon days turn into weeks, months, years, and somewhere along the way they stop craving the alcohol.
Nothing to be sorry for, any little bit of time you can commit to not giving in to the thoughts of taking your life is good.
Meanwhile, to get through that time, you might want to start learning some cognitive behavioral therapy skills if you haven't already. I have a great workbook on it called Thoughts and Feelings, Change Your Mood, Change Your Life. But you can do a google search on CBT and learn a lot without spending money or going anywhere.
