I am in the process of weaning off of Pristiq. My doc is aware and gave instructions, however, having gone off of Savella a few years ago, I believed I needed to do this more gradually than he recommended. I am down from 100 mg dialy for 2 years to 25 mg every other day. The day "off" is absolutely MISERABLE! I'm wondering now if I should continue at this dose until my body aclimates, or just bite the bullet and quit altogether now, knowing that the next few weeks may be awful. Any thoughts?
by 1 tablet pre week..took 6 the first week , 5 the second week, down to
only 1 the last week. The smallest dose they make is the 50 mg so if
you are taing 25 every other day you must be cutting the tablets. This
is bad because its time released and it may release all of the drug quickly and then none till the next pill. This will make withdrawl worse.
I had a family doc tell me to cut the pill but pharmacist and psychiatrist
said absolutely dont. Pqstiq withdrawl is difficult because it has a short
"half life" ..leaves your body quickly when you miss a dose which you must to wean.The last 10 days my doc had me take 10mg Prozac
every 3rd day to help w. withdrawls. This helps becase Prozac has
a long half life..some stays in your system 3 or 4 days after you take it.
Within 10 days or so after your last pill , you should feel fine.
