Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I was reading the book "understanding the borderline mother" by Christine Lawson and this passage really hit home:
"Invalidating families teach children that pretending to be happy is more important than being happy, and that talking about how you really feel only makes things worse."
It sums up quite neatly a lot of my though patterns, especially when I'm going through a bout of depression

ACTING happy is better than ACTING sad ... for EVERYONE.
I refuse to justify depression. It is powerful enough without my involvement. It involves ME ... I don't involve IT. I refuse to. It is the enemy ... and SOMETIMES wins .. but when it does, .. it gets no help from me.
Keep this in mind ... Happy .... GOOD. Depression .... BAD. Fake it? Sure ... WHATEVER works. Show it no mercy.
Depression totally DISPLACES happiness ... to the extent we allow it. If you can't feel happy, but can act happy ... then you at least have that. ACTING happy is much better than not acting happy.
I think depressive episodes are something that take their own time and if you can distract your mood when you are in them it will help you get through them.
Except fro our self.
I once read that smiling will make you feel better. I tried it once and I actually did feel better after putting a smile on my face. If only I could smile more often!
Even recently, I discovered that I can't join the military because of my depression... That's what I am down about right now. I'm going to apply to a different branch while hiding it and see how far I get, lol.
