Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
You did what was best for her.
SHE was the one who created a toxic environment that made many of her final wishes impossible to implement.
HUGE HUGS!
Your mother needs a LOT more care now that she is unable to get out of bed by herself. So one question comes to mind: are you able to get her in and out of bed by yourself? Are you able to do this on demand? The reality is that while you may be able to do this now, her care is going to get more demanding as time passes. It is entirely possible that the day is coming where she will need 2 people to get her in and out of bed.
How about all those daily assessments that are done in an assisted living facility? The things that the staff there is trained to look for that we non-professionals are not?
I think you did what was best for her long term care needs. It is also good for you. The only negative is that it is not what she wants. But then she is asking you to do things you are not trained to do. She is also asking you to do things that interfere with your life.
You are OK!
