Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have no friends and, I'm unaware of who likes me and, guess what? I don't care, because I like me and that is all that is important to me, make it just as important to you, and like me you will be a happy chappy if you do and, how do you do that?
I'm guessing you are a self-judgmental person, most of us depressed people are, through no fault of our own I might add. Well simply stop being self-judgmental, stop negatively labeling yourself because that is another thing we self-judgmental people do. We tell lies to ourselves about ourselves often do we?
Specific response to the problems you mention .... I don't think you can support yourself at 17 ... so leaving your household now would probably not be a great idea. I don't know what problems are in there, but better to soothe and heal them than to continue the friction or leave. Ask Mom 'how can we get rid of the friction, and create harmony together?" Smooth family life is GREAT, ... chaotic family life is dreadful.
If people at school THINK you are faking depression, ... stop mentioning it to them. They can't fix it anyway ... only you and the medical profession can. Don't give them that to put you down with. It's none of their business anyway.
I 'salute' your boyfriend. Marines are the cream of the crop. I am Army, and I look up to any Marine. He has a TON on his shoulders ... being in boot camp. Try to not heap anything upon those shoulders.
Get physically well, .. look at your 'stuff' with people at school, and withdraw your PERSONAL issues from them. They (again) can't do much for you. Improve things with Mom. I am sure you can do that.
I am telling you that your YOUTH is only a beginning. MUCH changes and will, ... within only a very few years. Work on your stuff, ... ask questions here on DS, and be patient. I am sure a VERY different life is around the corner.
If you have not seen a counsellor or therapist, please consider talking to one soon. Your brain is running overhaul everyday, you need to wind it down a bit. It's really hard to function when your mind cannot stop thinking. Praying for you. Take care.
