My furnace stopped working. I just bought this house 2 years ago, and didn't have the furnace serviced last year because I couldn't find anyone to service it.
Last year, after calling half a dozen companies, I found someone to come to the house and have a look, but he told me that he doesn't service this type of burner, and I would have to sign a service contract and buy my oil from him in order for him to even attempt it.
This time, I looked at the manual again, and there was a name on it. I looked in the phone book, found the guy was a plumbing and heating company, and they have come to fix it.
Ok, here is the problem - whenever something like this comes up I panic. I freak out. Sometimes, I just cannot deal with the situation, which is an everyday emergency, without freaking out.
I don't know how to stop feeling like this. I don't know how to react without the panic.
Any suggestions?

I have an odd sense of humor I guess. Usually when things like that happen I just shout something silly:
"WHAT THE DEUCE?"
"Nuckinfuts."
"Laaaaaame."
Remind myself that modern appliances and electronics WILL have technical issues every now and then, and go about my day. -shrug-
