Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I’ve felt depressed for a very long time. No matter what happens I always feel like a failure . I’ve cried until I can’t cry anymore . I feel worthless and useless . I just want to go to sleep forever . That way I can’t feel anything .

I've been there, still am kind of. I can't even sleep in my own bed without sleeping the day away. But giving up would be too easy. A friend on here gave me some advise I've been trying to follow and share. She told me I focus too much on the negative and need to look more at the positive. It's not easy but it is worth it to try. :)

I can feel your frustration with life; however, you can help yourself perhaps by medication and counseling by a mental-health professional and couple that with exercise that releases chemicals that can lift your mood, increase your energy. Also please don’t overlook your spiritual needs: Pour out your heart to God in prayer…it can help calm you. Philippians 4:6,7

invisible55, I understand your pain, but please believe me you can get past this. I have suffered with anxiety and depression on and off over the years. Someone asked me one time, "Do you want to get well?" I thought it was a dumb question but I thought about one of my husband's family members who doesn't seem to want to get well. Being the depressed lady on antidepressants who doesn't ever leave her house has given her an excuse to not engage in life. I realized that if I truly wanted to get well, I could. There were other things that I set my mind to and was able to accomplish. So I began to exercise and read good books (Change Your Brain, Change Your Life by Daniel G. Amen M.D.; Finding Happiness by Todd Patkin; Dark Clouds, Silver Linings by Dr. Archibald Hart, etc.). I also began to be careful about what I thought about and what I allowed into my brain. I quit watching the news and stopped associating with negative, critical people. You didn't say what caused your depression. Was it a trauma, a death, broken relationship? Identifying the cause may help. A support group would be another good option. I hope I didn't overwhelm you, but I just want to help you see that there are options. There is help. But if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got. I pray that today will be the day that you begin to make decisions and choices that will help you move to emotional health.

I can completely sympathize with what you are feeling because I have felt the same way for years. but it is possible to learn to move past the things in your head that make you feel that way. it is not easy. I know first hand. im still struggling every single day but I have something to live for today.
