I have a HUGE BOIL on my armpit....It is huge and very painful....

My question is this: why does my arm hurt? I mean it feels like my arm is sprained...I can hardly move it and it just HURTS!!!! WHY?

This is the second boil I've had this year...the first one was not as big and was on my shoulder...that's another question...why am I suddenly developing these boils

Lately I've been feeling very lethargic and weak and sick...not unusual considering my depression, but lately it's been a lot worse...I feel physically tired...and just have a sense of full body pain?

Any ideas?

You have a bacterial infection (probably) and need to see a doctor ... urgently.

Hi...it is an infection that is why it hurts your whole arm...can you hot compress it until you get to the Dr? They also sell stuff at the pharmacy....a salve that draws out boils....its very "black". If you can't get to a Dr...you can ask the pharmacist what it is.

did you look up salve? I didn't I will thou..that sux and I think it is on TOPIC because stuff like that just makes me MORE depressed than usual.

Yea, that looks like the most expensive one but there are some at CVS and you can compare ingredients with the prices...some are exactly the same and it is just the name brands that are costing more.

I don't know if you have a CVS near you but some are open 24/7.
Dr. would be probably be able to prescribe something better or LANCE it which would KILL but would feel better immediately and then he would put you on antibiotic.

Sounds to me a little like PMR, which is what I have.. I have never gotten a boil, but it makes my skin break out in cysts. The full body aches, fatigue, weakness, sick..oh yeah. You need to go to the doctor asap & have them draw your blood. Also have them check your thyroid. I am a real treat, I have 2 incurable auto-immune diseases. Both were made worse by depression, anxiety & stress. Good luck

UGH!!!...thanks guys....it is a little better today...been trying the hot compresses...but I still feel like crap...

I hate going to the doctor...so I'll look into getting the salve

The nerve registers the pain from the boil it also affects the rest of the nerve to the end. Take a couple of extra strength Tylenol, add some water to form a paste and apply to the boil. It wont do much for the boil its self but it should ease the pain in your arm.

I got the salve...and it's drawing it out...but now there is a big hole there...it still hurts but at this point it's just an annoying type of pain... thanks for the responses and concern...I still don't really feel well per se, but like I said, at least the real pain is gone.

I wish I knew what brings them on. I've had too many to count since I was a little kid. I've only had a doctor treat 1 or 2, the rest I just let it go and heal when it's ready. I agree with putting a drawing salve on it. The ones I've used have been black and smell terrible. But at least it works. I've had boils on top of infected boils. How's that for a huge infection? No doctor, just treated it myself. Keep treating it and see a doctor if it gets worse. Take care! Those things suck big time. You don't know unless you'd had had tons over the years.

Depressed..thank Goodness its draining..you have an infection which is why you feel unwell....but since it is draining in a few days you should feel better....Probably coulda used an antibiotic for this...but its not good to take too many of those anyway.

Maybe in a couple days...get a topical antibiotic (I wouldn't get it now because it is irritated, wait a day or so...let it drain). Take an anti inflammatory..asprin...possibly if you can.

SO GLAD you got it to start draining.....
