Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I think of this as a self fulfilling prophecy. If you believe in something (positive or negative) hard and deeply enough, then you will take actions to make it come true. Sometimes these actions are conscious, sometimes they are subconscious.
For example, if you think somebody hates you then odds are that will influence how you act around that person. They will pick up on it and avoid you, thus fulfilling the prophecy you made that they hate you.
I could convince myself that Brad Pitt is out there looking for me for a role in a new block buster movie that will make me rich. Odds of this happening are very slim. But if I made a more general goal the focus of my thoughts (like wanting to make it in the movie biz) then I stand a much better chance of making it happen. This can come from scanning "good sources" for leads, learning what it takes to make it, and giving it my all.
In general negative self fulfilling prophecies are easier to make happen.
So by all means, go about having attainable goals, and do all you can to make them come true!
Hope this helps.
this mumbo jumbo is there for people who are emotionally needy and require a crutch to stand up. The problem is, it turns them into cripples to start with. The fact that there are questions that cannot be answered leaves them unconfident, unsure, and unable to access the knowledge they DO have. it's entirely destructive.
Also it doesn't help that I spent a few months convincing my fellow high school students that I could read auras and tell their palms - which I did entirely cynically and for my own personal entertainment, and they soaked it right up. I also as a six year old had the whole street believing in my imaginary friends.
This does make me feel that we're all primates scared of the dark, hiding underneath mumbo jumbo to keep safe from the boogey monster.
those motivational tapes and such are SALES tapes, for salespeople. Salespeople constantly have to be 'on' and so they have to hype themselves into uber-confidence just to get through the day, so they watch this stuff to self-hypnotise. Then they can get out there and be 'on' and sell! Sell! Sell! and come home exhausted, depressed, anxious, have another drink, listen to another tape.
They are not a centred, paced, sane way of functioning. Silence and lack of input are required for that. Not huge wads of emotionalist peppy interfering type input.
I would say, in all earnestness, ditch the weirdo class and just go walk on the beach and ask yourself what you want out of life. Ignore the hype. Ignore the mumbo jumbo which is 100% designed to part you from your hard earned money. There are no fairies, there is no magic, there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
it's just physical you, a collection of molecules, in this finite physical world, doing the best you can.
:) xx.
People remember you by the way that you make them feel
You can only make others happy by staying happy because other people feel your pain
The planet has many sights to see, try to see as much as you can
Remove the people that are not condusive to your enviroment especially if they run over your psyche you can't have sex with a troll
totally don't believe in all that gumph but if someone can prove me wrong, I will stand corrected. I am of the opinion though that just as with monsters under the bed:
the reason we don't see the monster deaths in the newspaper is because there are no monsters. there's an old saying: You don't see psychics winning lotto.
