Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I've been in relationships that left me feeling very lonely because of the disconnection... the fact that even with someone by my side, that it wasn't "right"... wasn't that true love... but that seems to be different from what you are experiencing... idk.
I don't have any idea what kind of relationship you have with your spouse, so I won't try to read anything into it, but...
if you can reconnect with some of your family, then I would certainly make an attempt to do that... to find resolve of issues and/ or to at least make yourself available to the opportunities that might exist by reaching out to them.
If that isn't a possibility for whatever reasons/ unfortunate circumstances, then I would absolutely count your blessings, embrace those opportunities, try to appreciate what you have, and try to find that happiness that can exist in having a wonderful family of your own.
Maybe it will take some therapy, or just some soul-searching... i don't know. But I do know that we should embrace those people in our lives that we have, those that we have the chance to be with every day, those that can make us laugh and smile, those that we can count on for support and love. As you age, you may indeed regret that you weren't able to do that.
Again... try to find some true happiness in those relationships that you DO have... rather than obsessing over those that don't exist.
Life is short. ( Kenny Chesney's "Don't Blink" comes to mind).
Some of us don't even have the chance to have what you do.
Best of luck.
