Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
My advice though is to not let anger motivate your decisions. Often does not work out well.
And very wise words, indeed, Wandering Vet. I thank you. I didn't come to my decision lightly. It comes from years and years of emotional slaps in the face from being told that my mom wanted to abort me when she found out she was pregnant with (oh, how often I wish that she had) to being frozen out at family functions.
I always knew I would be alone, and frankly ache from loneliness is much more appealing than ache from being figuratively smacked across the face from those who are supposed to love you.
Back to you. I do not see any harm in cutting people out who do not treat you with love and respect. It may get lonely for a while, but in the end it is probably best to remove them from your life.
When I was a teenager I had a very very short fuse. Over the years I have pulled that in. I still get mad. However, I try to stay constructive. In many ways anger can be as bad if not worse than depression. Anger puts a lot of stress on the body. Can even be fatal. It certainly won't help with depressed feelings.
I know it's hard to not be angry at people in your life. Struggling with family is very common. I still struggle with mine. I'm hoping you can resolve everything you need to resolve. Try figuring out a way to cut some angry feelings out. It may help. Don't make yourself too lonely.
