Can anyone suggests types of jobs/careers that don't involve dealing with the public? I'm so sick of working in retail. I went back to school for two years and fucked that up too. I am suppose to be returning in January, but now I don't want to return to that program.
I feel so friggin dead inside. I've really given up on everything. I took on a part time job against PDocs wishes, and it is ending up more fulltime and it's retail. People think cashier are rude, try working the other side.
I never seem to get better, just stay worse.

Some customers are the nicest people, but the majority are very rude.
I don't know what happened to the words manners or common courtesy
I always thought a librarian's job would be a quiet job.
planogram (setting shelves, prices, and displays)
backroom(inventory and perp stock)
stocking(unloading trucks, and stocking shelves)
its retail, but when the stores closed. its the work i do. backroom logistics trainer. =] i know just about everyone, and the people i dont know, im in control of. a lot of the people have anxiety too, which helps to know im not alone.
im going into welding. college wasnt for me, to much paper work and reading... just to stressful. i wanted to do accounting, but its just to much.
Yes, I did retail part time for many years and I teach high school full time. I get people who specialize in rudeness!
In retail when someone got pissy towards me I would just lower my voice and be incredibly calm. That usually pissed them off more and they really showed their true colors. If it got really bad I'd just say something like--Sir/Ms, I do not allow people to speak to me in that manner. Then I'd walk away and get a supervisor.
IDK the retail job I work at, all that stuff is done in the day time/store hours. The only place around here that does it off hours is Walmart (overnight), and one month there was more than a belly full. Thank you though.
Kitty I have had data entry suggested but I don't really understand exactly what it is.
I've been working in retail for over 27 years and I think I'm completely burned out of working with customers. I need a quiet job sitting in some office or something.
I really want to find a job I can somewhat enjoy going to ya know.
Work is such a big part of our day.
