Our new employee at work, as in only being here for two weeks, has been trained by me over the last day and a half. Well yesterday and quite with no ill intent I did just about everything I could to scare the guy into moving back waaayyyy up north in Missouri. I mean really, the guy was born there . He's practcally an Eskimo. And from a south central Florida native perspective Missouri is pretty dang far north. So I listed off a few of the hazards of living down here. The list included sinkholes,wicked electrical storms,hurricanes, venomous wildlife both terrestrial and marine species,sharks, alligators and the most dangerous which is those northern bad drivers primarily from Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. The brave soul was right behind me coming into work this morning. And after a fairly lengthy discussion about the northern drivers have pretty much made a hobby out of killing off us Florida Natives, I nearly take out a little white car with my SUV turning in right behind another buddy of mine. But skillfully I missed him by a good four inches. And it was pure animalistic reflexes that saved me from an otherwise embarrassing situation. Clearly the guy is a brave soul indeed coming back here. Any other lilly livered Yankee would of packed up and left immediately that very night after hearing my description of those various hazards. Also I included some other interesting tidbits about the local area. I informed him that the county he now lives in is essentially a mecca for sexual predators and meth labs. Also there are assorted grow houses here in lovely Polk county. People in the Orlando or the Tampa Bay areas just shake their heads in sympathy when they're told where I live. They try not to stare in amazement that I can read and write. Also some wonder if I am not lying about being born there and actually living to my current advanced age of 53. Their real amazement is from the fact that at 53 I still have most of my teeth. Yes it can be that bad here abouts in Polk , pronounced Poke county by us natives.

Now to another matter. Considering all of the stuff mentioned above. I have formed the opinion that Walt Disney had a sick sense of humor or he was blindfolded and threw a dart at a map of the United States. I mean those two things would pretty much explain why the man would put a major theme park / tourist attraction smack dap in the middle of all those things that can and have killed a fair number of people down here. If it was his twisted sense of humor he was a very sick individual indeed. So if you've had the patience and intetstinal fortitude to read this far , I applaud your your obvious ability to tolerate the rantings of an old fool. If you were lucky maybe you actually found some small part of this remotely entertaining. Otherwise my apologies to you for having endured it.
