Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Your Mother (and her behavior) will NEVER change until she stops inebriating.
If you do not wish to deal with it as you have been doing, you must tell her "your alcoholism is something I choose to no longer be exposed to. If you do not get help with it, we cannot have an association." .... and mean it.
I know it is hard. Alcoholism is devastating .. for everyone involved.
You have to walk away for your own sake. Your Mother will make her own choices and when she decides to stop using alcohol as her only support mechanism then you can see about a relationship with her
But until that point you have to look after yourself
Will it be easy to walk away? No
But unless you do you won't be able to look after yourself

congratulations on your baby and wishing the best for you
i saw her today and everything went ok. i've set a new boundary, which is i don't want her drinking around me. whenever she would visit in the past she would always bring a bottle with her. she was fine with staying sober for me today . i just need to get over my fear of hurting her with my honesty. it's not worth it to pretend like her problems don't bother me. i don't think we will ever be as close as we used to be, but i think this could be healthier for me.
Alanon is an excellent idea! They are much more focused on situations like yo have with your mom than we are here.
Gentle hugs
