Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
There's a verse in the Bible that says, "Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning." Psalm 30:5 Though it's rare for our joy to return right the next day after a heartbreak, the point of this encouragement is to remind us not to let heartbreak cause us to believe that we'll always be in pain. Time can, if we learn little by little to reinvest in life (in others, in our passions, etc.), help heal wounds. So don't be rash in your actions, during painful times isn't the best moment to make decisions. And yes alter your thoughts, let a "little bit" of sun (i.e. laughter, doing something you enjoy, helping someone else, even crying it out to get things off your chest) come in.
Don't be afraid of the pain, just keep pushing through a little at a time. And talk to someone if you need to. ;) (Whether a counselor, a pastor, priest, a close trusting friend and here.)
