Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I wouldn't consider ECT either, I've read too much about what it's long tem effects have been on many people.
FWIW....my therp gave me "permission" to "fire" her last week and this week my pysch dr. said I can drop him as well if I want to since I'm worse now than ever before.
Both general practioners won't remotely consider a psyhsical component to what is happening, just blame it all on psych, psych won't go beyond just throwing more ineffective meds at me.
Been to one too many pdocs now so am labled a "dr. shopper", "drug seeker" so no point in even trying to find another.
You've helped me remember there are others caught in this quagmire and I am not alone though it sure feels that way.
I really hope you will find a way towards recovery, sooner, rather than later.
What I am saying is that I could not get better until I stopped expecting magical results from psymeds. I am off of all psymeds today.
All the best to you on the path to healing!!!
I hope that you and me and everyone else that feels the same way can find something to hold onto that will help bring them away from this sadness.
I have tried for years and have found no answers myself. I cope one hour at a time. I know I do need to be kinder and softer with myself.
Sometimes the smallest thing can make a difference. I hope you find that {{{hugs}}}
I also try to exercise, get sunlight, sleep well, drink enough water, avoid artificial sweetners (failing at that but new research says it can be an issue), avoiding alcohol or other depressants, working on issues and avoiding toxic relationships. I think the pills only go so far so I'm trying everything I can even though there are many days I could care less. It's a fight for sure. I really hope you can find the answer and begin to feel better. I really feel like the docs dont care. I havent had the best expereinces with them either.
