Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Are you on speaking terms with your ex? Can you work something out so you can see your daughter? There will come a time where your daughter may regret not having her dad in her life.. Hope things work out for you.....
On the emotional side, over time your daughter FOR WHATEVER REASON, has the attitude you mention. MAYBE her Mother has 'brain washed' her against you (usually the case).
I know of someone who was married to a nut case. They had 2 young but almost adult, girls. One girl did not want anything to do with her Mother, By the time the divorce took place, she was living on her own.
The other one blamed Dad. She lived about 2 months with her Mother (after the divorce) and finally called Dad and asked if she could live with him, ... because she now realized that MOM was a freeking bitch. To this day, neither girls want anything to do with Mom. The younger one admitted that MOM had told lie after lie about Dad.
I suspect this is the case with you. Problem is, its been so long. You may not get the chance to convince her which LEGALL doesn't matter if you go to court ... except she won't be very happy being with you at first.
The decision you have to make is do you want more time or not. If you do, you have to go to court, .... (step 1) and then (step 2), convince your daughter you are a great guy. That's the only way I see it.
Good luck to you.
