Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have been through a lot of stuff through my 19 years of living. My Mother passed away from cancer at 11, at 16 my cousin was kidnapped raped and murdered, and then in the months following that year my grandparents passed away. So needless to say a lot of people close to me have passed away. My dad got remarried just one year and a few months after my mom passed away and I have just had a lot of anger and sadness in my heart since the young age of 11. My family doesn't care about me. In their eyes I do everything wrong. And just when i think things might be getting better, they blow up all over again. All they do is yell at my sister, and ignore me. The only time they notice me is when they think I have done something wrong. They don't try to have any kind of relationship with me. My step mom treats me like completely like crap, and is so fake in front of everyone else. I contemplate suicide sometimes. Asking myself if they would care if i wasn't here anymore. If they would notice. The only thing i want is to have a normal functioning family, but I dont forsee that happening any time soon.

Hope the dog days of summer aren't getting you down!

didn't. Get away from home as soon as you can. Make friends your family and
your sister.
Hi Jenna,
I know you are going through an awful storm of life right now. I was once a teen age girl who's dad had asked me to be responsible for taking care of my mom and sisters as he divorced my mom. It was one of the worst moments in my life. I have had thoughts about committing suicide also. I have had those same thoughts of no ones cares about me as well and that probably no one would even notice that I was gone. I was bullied and teased in school. I came from and drug and alcoholic family. No one ever communicated. Lots of ignoring the situations and running away from the problems. People in my family were fake too.
Unfortunately to say, but these kind of families are more common than you realize. This is more of the normal today than we hope for. You have been through a lot for your young age of life. (It is very important that you do not even contemplate thinking about committing suicide!) You are still young and a beautiful young lady, who can make a difference in life. You can be the first to turn over a new leaf in your family tree. You can be there to help your sister through this awful storm you are dealing with right now. You are of age now that you can make your own choices and choose how you desire to live your life.
When I was a kid, my parents put me on a bus that took me to church on Sunday mornings to get me out of the way so my dad could sleep without a bunch of noise from me and my two younger sisters- so they said. Well, little did my parents realize, but that church drew an interest in this little girl. They loved me and cared for me, they took me under their wings and protected me. I grew to love the people in that church. They became more of my family than my own family. I was very shy and did not talk much, but they always had a way of getting me to share what was on my mind. Even though I did not say much I secretly liked all the attention that they gave to me. The church people helped me through my troubles and trials. When I turned 18 my Sunday school teachers helped me get into a bible college in Oregon. I loved it down there! I was free of my own family, I made new friends and met other families. I was able to look at my own life and examine it in how I wanted to live it. With the help of the administration and counselors down there, I made a plan and set some goals form me to work towards after school got out is the spring. I went back to my home town. I stayed with my grandparents until I found a apartment to move into. I got a job shortly before i got the apartment. I loved my job and my little apartment. I connected back up with my college age friends from the church that I had gone to before I left for college. My parents had their own lives and my dad was married to his second wife. they did not agree with how I was living life, but I had a dream and a goal. I was going to achieve it, the best way I could. I had a encouraging and supportive group of friends who kept me on the straight and narrow. They held me accountable to my actions and all that I did.
I still keep in touch with my real family today, because it is a sign of honor and respect. But it is my my choice in how I live my life, I am accountable and responsible for the things that I do. Do not let your emotions and feelings take control of how your family sees you. Seek peace and love through God, because people do not always know how to show love and kindness to others. Find away to love and protect your sister.
Psalms 46:10
...Be still and know that I am God.
Isaiah 40:30, 31
Even the youths shall faint and grow weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31). but those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount upon wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
I don't have enough room on here to talk about the book of John in the bible, but if you can take time and get a bible and read the whole book of John. This will be very helpful tool for you as well.
I am sorry for your loss x2. I know you lost your mom but you also lost your dad in a way. I deal with the adult version of your life. Your way ahead of your time for even being on here. Thank you for showing me hope. Maybe not for my wife but maybe hope for others.
