Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
You are definitely in the grips of a major depressive episode.
How long has it been going on?
Have you had any good days amid the down days?
My belief is that as long as you are safe, just ride the wave of the depressive days. You have been there before, so you know they won't last, or that you will have good one here and there, or even just a couple hours of energy.
Stick with the "must do" things in your life. To me that would be taking care of your kids. So what if you don't take a shower? That takes energy that you could devote to something more pressing.
So what you have to do and let the rest go. DO NOT feel guilty about not feeling like doing anything. That is the depression and it happens.
Do you have a therapist?
Do you have a good friend or SO that you can discuss this with?
Maybe someone can pitch in to help out for awhile so you can rest.
IMHO fighting a serious depressive episode only makes it worse. I know many will not agree with me.
You have to decided how you want to handle things right now.
Be kind to yourself.
Take care~BB
depression can be scary, especially when you loose interest in what you love and enjoy. depression takes time. it could be a day, week, a month, ... but it will pass. there are definitely times that my depression finds me much faster and easier then others. the only thing that helps me stay on top of it and minimize the frequency of my episodes is when i am drinking LOTS of WATER. juice, milk, coffee, tea, soda. not going to do it. hydration makes your body happy and function more efficiently. there are times especially when your are depressed that refilling your glass can be hard if not impossible. but trust me it helps. not a fix but a strong aid.
here is to a smooth road to smiles. :)
But if I was able to get that accomplished, at least I felt like I had acheived a goal.
So write down what you need to do and at least do one thing on the list. It will make you feel better. Good luck.
