hope is terrible. Hope is a fantasy. there is no knight in shining armour. There is no snow-white charger.
You've got to get out there and make what you get for yourself.
Hoping upon mere wishes can certainly and ultimately prove foolish, and there is a huge difference between actually having actual hope and merely hoping to not be found or to not remain hopeless...
=====
Hope differs from wish and desire as it implies expectation of obtaining the desired good...whereas wish and desire may produce pain and anxiety.
examples: He wished, but not with hope...
He that lives upon hope will die fasting.

Admitting I was hopeless while yet in my natural state is a great part of the hope I now have for continuing to living without floundering in mere wish and desire.
and acceptance is vital for happiness.
Holding out hope is just that: an uncomfortable position of waiting.
Let go of hope and live in the moment.
I agree, and that begs the question of what to do when we encounter someone who might presently be in such a place. Telling someone there is always hope does not resolve his or her awareness of having none, and neither does encouraging him or her to "never give up hope" or to never stop hoping. It is fine and even necessary in life to hope and/or to have hope, but there is never a guarantee of every kind of hope always being available...and then actually having or knowing of some applicable hope to pass along is yet quite another matter with challenges of its own.
I have no hope today in certain areas of my life, and that proves to me that all of my past hoping or merely believing I had hope was fruitless other than to possibly help a bit in keeping me going at the time. But then the measure of hope I *do* have today is much different than anything I had sought or believed I had in the past...and it is in making that kind of transition that the hopeless can again find hope.
