Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My story starts out 3 years ago. My wife and I had a pretty good life. But I started feeling weird, my muscles were getting weaker. It got to the point getting in a car was tough w/o assistance. Then, my back started to hurt, so painfull I couldn't stand it.
In 2016, I was in even worse shape. And, out of the blue, my wife left me w/o warning. I couldn't take care of myself and had no choice but to go into a nursing home. So, I went from walking, to using a walker, to a wheelchair.
In the space of three years, my life evaporated before my eyes. BUT NEVER, EVER did I ponder suscide. Life is too precious And there would be people that love me and would miss me.
To have something to look forward to, I made a goal last winter, to be discharged from the nursing home and be able to watch the leaves through our front window this fall. Well, it happened. I didn't quit, didn't give up, was discharged in August. And the leaves were beautiful.
If you've been betrayed and hurt by a spouse, I can relate. If life makes you feel like a failure, again, I hear ya. BUT, GOD doesn't look at you that way. He loves you and wants to help. GOD KNOWS HOW YOU FEEL. Really. he does! In your saddest times, God carries you. just like the footprints poem.
Don't give up!!! KEEP GOING!!!! God will get you through anything, I should know. THERE IS HOPE!!!! Just think, when you wake up tomorow morning, God will give you a brand new day. Yesterday is gone forever.
Please don't give up. Its worth it.
NOTHING is worth ending your life over.

I am so sorry you feel so much pain, and I am praying for you to have peace~
I have come to realize there is a purpose....everything is a part of a greater plan. I would find strength and an outstretched hand (or two) to yank me out before I disappeared. You have others on here, your son, those furry critters (who , you and I both know, can touch our hearts and make us smile in the worst possible moment)
I m trying to focus on small steps..... Maybe it would help if you can focus on good things that will again lie ahead....... a good soak in your hot springs....the wind in your face as you ride your trike on a warm, sunny day, the critters playing peek a boo as they hide under the cushions again, you son's smile.....
I hate to think of this all being taken from you ...
Hugs, thoughts and prayers are with you.
PS Just think how many more people would be tortured with my endless chatter if you weren't around??? lol
Sometimes it's just great to have meds to stop the pain
