Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Tylenol PM also sometimes helps to quiet my mind a bit. Also, I have had a little luck thinking of the dreams I want before I go to sleep. While I am trying to fall asleep i concentrate on the visual images i want my dream to be about.
Hope you can get some sleep sweething - I know you need it.
and that will either make me sound smart, or ignorant. either way, i'm trying to help.

Stop drinking caffeine in the afternoon and make sure you get a relaxing bedtime ritual going. Do some yoga, dim the lights, read a book, take hot baths...whatever is appealing. Avoid tv, eatting, and loud noise for about an hour before bed.
but certainly I have had nightmares
What I do is speak to myself immediately upon awakening from the terror......saying "It's just a dream, it's not real....it's just a dream, it's not real" and I turn on a light and walk the whole house (sometimes with a weapon).
I get myself a drink, and then I lay back down and think of something else.....even if I have to think OUT LOUD, I think of something else.
Sometimes I picture myself telling this dream to someone the next day and realizing how silly it is.
best wishes for your friend, and all those who suffer nightmares. xoxoxox
