Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I would like it if you friend me so we could chat. Take care.
I mean "truly free" as being free from depression and other emotional issues (i.e.; anxiety, hallucinations, ect ect).
Of course!
I hope that you find means to make changes soon, I dislike the idea of kind people being in pain.
Take care, Joe.
I haven't been on here long, and I'll admit it's hard for me to come here and read about others who suffer with depression, just like me. There's only so much advice that can be given here, but I think it's most powerful aspect is the knowledge that we are not alone. We all have different stories leading up to an existence living with depression. Sometimes I remember back to when I was a child and wonder if I was truly depressed at times. I had a rough childhood, lots of neglect and shuffling about. It seems like anyone would say that of course you were depressed because of your circumstances, but I'm not sure it's as easy as all that. And maybe it doesn't matter anymore, I am an old lady, after all. But as a child I was quiet and a loner, content having one friend at a time. As a teen I wanted to be thought of an adult because I thought I was one. I took life way to seriously, more so than I actually did as an adult. I suppose my circumstances forced me to grow up too fast.
I guess your post got me going on about when I was a kid. I wonder if childhood depression is diagnosed differently than in an adult?
Thanks for the post, Lucky
I'm not positive on whether or not it's diagnosed differently, but due to your poor circumstances as a child it may have hindered an actual diagnoses as well as because of age. Children are growing after all, learning to manage their emotions and the world around them. It's very possible those in a psychiatric field may not want to diagnose children with such 'illnesses' (I don't believe them to be that but if anyone has a different belief I respect that) due to the stigma and circumstances associated. Such as medications for something that a child might not even need, most children's emotions are subject to change quickly after all.
I apologize if this information is not correct; I am no expert.
It is nice to know that I'm not alone, and that such kind-hearted people are open and good listeners.
I'm sorry about your rough childhood. I hope things nowadays are better.
Not sure if you have seen any counsellor or therapist about your condition. If not, it may be worth considering talking to one. This plaform is wonderful as there are supportive members who are ready to come in and chat with you and journey together with you. However, the healing may be more efficient if you are able to talk to someone in person as sometimes the physical presence brings comfort if not more. Maybe give it thought. God bless and I'm praying for you.
Thank you, I'm praying for you as well
I have had two therapists, a psychiatric nurse, and am currently in waiting for another therapist. My former therapist was too overwhelmed by my issues-- the poor thing. I talk to a counselor at my school, however he knows I know how to play the system to keep out of the hospital and such so there's only so much he can do.
Everyone here seems so supportive and kind, and I hope that everyone here recovers or continues to recover safely.
@muskrattiger
I'm happy to hear that you are recovering! I hope everything continues to get better. I shall keep you in my prayers as well.
Thank you all for sharing by the way. It's nice to know that I'm not alone.
