Does he hide you from his other friends and people he works with? Does it sound like he spends time with his family, or is he estranged from them?

Yea, that is suspicious behavior on his part. Hope there is a good explanation for it.

There might be something about his family that embarasses him. I think you should approcah him directly with him about your concern.

I agree, that is odd, but don't assume that you're the issue. Like Lance suggested, it might be the other way around!

Ask him and tell him that you feel like he's hiding you. Either you've outed him, in which case I'm very sorry, but it's better to find out sooner than later.

Or...he'll be totally shocked that you thougth such a thing, and tell you that it's his family he's trying to hide.

I have got one better than that. My daughter got married in 2010. She has a new baby.

She has never been to her husband's home. My grandson has never seen their home.

My daughter and her husband meet his parents in town every weekend and they eat out and shop for the baby.

Christmas time was celebrated at their other son's home and my daughter and husband went there.

Seems like good people. I can't understand it. Son's dad said "looks like we are going to have to clean up our house now because we have a grandson."

Me thinks to myself "HOARDING". It can't be anything else.

I think just confronting him about it is the best way to go.And try *not* to assume the worst--there could be any number of reasons.For instance, I used to never introduce my boyfriends to my family--b/c I was ashamed of/conflicted about *them*,no matter how pleased and proud I was with my boyfriends. It could be something like that.....But no matter what,I think it's just a good idea to ask about it*now*---this is your heart, your relationship, and you deserve and you need not to be left in the dark.Best of wishes to you!

I think what everyone is saying has merit. I am sure it is his family he is avoiding and not you. I would never take my boyfriends around my home either. You never new what they would say. I remember my first date, I was so excited. Time for the date came, I went to the bathroom real quick and I hear my stepfather say, "come on in, she is back in the bathroom taking a shit"!!!!!!!!! I was so embarrassed. I didn't even want to go on the date anymore. I went, but needless to say, that guy never called back

I know my stepfather was not trying to hurt me. He thought it was funny. But, hurt me he did. My Mom crawled him, but what was done was done.

I never took a date home after that. I would go spend holidays with their people, never invited them in or gave my "joking" family a chance to hurt me anymore..

Hey, MonaP, I think everyone here has made some pretty good points. It's hard to say from what you've posted, because there could be more to it that we are all missing. Does he seem to sneak around or avoid conversation about meeting his family? Or is it something that just doesn't come up? Personally, I have a terrible relationship with almost all my family, and if I can avoid taking my boyfriend over there, you can bet I do. My reason for that, however, has nothing to do with my boyfriend, but more with the fact that he is very special to me, and I have no reason to share the light in my life with people who have mistreated me in the past.

So, it could be what you are worried about, but it could also be several alternative explanations, depending on the details :) I would have to agree with the posts that suggest it may be best to talk with him up-front about it, especially if you've been together for two years. The answer could always be a pleasantly relieving surprise.
