Never Ending

I have been struggling with clinical depression for almost seven years now. I have tried counslers and medication and nothing seems to help. The only thing that has ever seemed to help me is my boyfriend but he just recently left for bootcamp with the marines and ever since he left my depression has gotten really bad again. I don't know what to do and I have come so close to self harming again but I am trying so hard not to but I don't know what else to do.

Take up martial arts. It is the only non-medical thing that really, really, works.

You mentioned that you have been on medication and have had counseling, but they didn't help. You should probably return to your doctor or go to a new doctor and ask them if they would let you try a different medication. Sometimes it takes several different medications ad dosages to find the one that works for you. Try seeing a different therapist. Sometimes it takes going to several different therapists to find the right one for you. The one you trust, feel comfortable with and the one who is helping you. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I use to do martial arts as a kid but was forced to quit because my stepmother got pregnant. I may try the other medication thing but I have tried about five different therapists at this point.

Hi there, sorry that you are going through so much right now and thanks for sharing. You mentioned you have been to therapies, counselling and medication. Are you still on any medication or counselling at this point? Might be good to be back on your course of medication if you have stopped. It will help you to cope.

Self harm actually hurts the people around you more than it hurts you (personal opinion). I once saw a girl (prob around 18-20 yo) with all the marks on her arm and it hurts me so much that I wanted to give her big hug. So maybe before you are thinking of cutting yourself, think about how your boyfriend might feel when he sees you when he comes back? Be well and take care. God bless. I'm keeping you in my prayer.
