Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
So sorry to read of all your troubles. Your brother & sister realistically just 'live down the road'... You don't! If THEY decided that your mum should go home, rather than into assisted living, then THAT'S on them - they need to accept the consequences of their decision / choice, NOT you. Seems they're trying to control you / manipulate you into doing their bidding - DON'T let them.
What do you mean 'they won't LET' your D.I.L borrow your mum's car. If anyone has a say about it, it's your mum!
Your 'head banging' Av (although humorous) pretty much says it all. Feel for you.
Hugs,
So when will that room be ready Olddrake. lol
Called my brother Saturday and he never returned my call and he is the one with the medical affidavit for her so it's on him, the facility that releases her, and mom if anything bad happens.
Talked to my mom and wasn't a good conversation but I just plan on taking some time away from my whole family except my husband and kids. When I mentioned I was thinking of getting away she couldn't help herself but say insultingly "you've been on vacation your whole life" then right after that had the nerve to ask why I hate her. I said I don't hate you but did you even hear what you just said to me. Maybe she can't help herself, I don't know but you are all right, I have made up my mind to stop letting her do that to me, now I gotta find a way like my husband says to not feel guilty about it.
To answer Sibil's question, my mom won't loan them the car either. She can't really drive it right now but thinks I should buy them a car so they can come by and check on her.
ps Already told my Mom if she ever goes in a nursing home they'll put her in a strait-jacket. She thinks I'm kidding, not!
