Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
But you are a human being!
Doctors of all areas call in other doctors for a consult. I view it as a very positive thing! So often in therapy, the thing that seems obvious to the untrained person can be exactly the wrong thing to do. Do you want your therapist to stumble into something like that?
There might be additional payments involved, just as there would if you went to your regular doctor for a sore knee and got referred to a specialist who needed to do more extensive testing. The specialist may or may not "take over" part of the treatment program for that knee.
Likewise, if the issue is beyond the scope of your regular therapist, it may be time to see a specialist for part of your therapy, and then return to your regular therapist once you get over the hump.
Ask your therapist about this!

You're right. I must admit something. No matter how often I go to these sessions I always took it for granted. Always saw it as someone just sitting down, talking to you and on some occasions give you some exercises to complete. I guess with the type of expectations I have of her, it never once occurred to me that anything could go wrong since all she would be doing is talking to me.
Never realized that when it comes to counseling there is an art form to it. Guess I took it for granted.
