I think I posted this under the wrong category, so if this shows up as a duplicate, my apologies:
My psychiatrist recently started me on Lamactil, a mood stabilizer. I have only been on it for 3 weeks, & already feel better. I had been on various anti-depressants for 15 years, Lexapro mostly, it quit working. The only problem is, I now have horrible insomnia. I cannot sleep more than 4 or 5 hours. I guess it's worth it if it eases my depression & anxiety Anyone else have an experience with this drug you would share with me? Thanks.

I take abilify with Lexapro and I sleep all the time. I mean well usually 8 hours a night. I use to have insomnia bad and only sleep about 4 hours a night. Never taken Lamactil though. Sorry I cant really help.

I had the very same problem when I took Lamactil. My Dr. prescribed Mirtazapine (Remeron) which is also an anti depressant and it helped me sleep. The combination of the two helped my mood and helped me sleep. Unfortunately for me the Lamactil stopped working for me and I'm on Lexapro now and it's not helping.

Lamactil has helped me greatly in the past. I had to go off it to have surgery 3 months ago and now I'm starting it again. I've always been an insomniac so that's nothing new for me.

I tried lamictal, it wasnt good. Also made me break out in cystic acne. None of those meds help. Depression is all due to your situation in life. Change your life and im sure you will feel better. If you choose to mess with pills, then be ready to suffer with lots of side effects and long term effects that will bite u in the butt when you least expect them.

My doctor almost killed me, I will NEVER take another med unless I can roll it up and smoke it :)
That being said...That is awesome lamictal works for you, try to get the non-generic ones :)
Still deciding if I should beat the living crap out of my doctor, it would be very justified, not to mention gratifying :)

alltheprettyflowers...really? Depression is due to your situation in life? Why are you on this site then? To spread your words of "wisdom"?. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, or don't you know that by now? If you are going to respond with those type of words, then don't respond at all...not helpful to me or anyone else. OK, we will just GO OUT & all of a sudden, change our brain chemistry, & our life situations because its sooooooooo easy, right? People don't need condescending words.

Whatever works for you and brings you some semblance of happiness, then I am very happy for you and will pray that it continues to work for you. sweatingbullets LOLOL! I at times have wished I could try a little Mary Jane..Ive heard from SO many people with depression that the right strain of pot helps immensely. With my addictive personality, I don't dare start smoking weed.

Glad you are being smart about the pot. Years ago when I smoked it, I would get paranoid, anxious, and ate everything sweet I could find. The weight gain would make my depression worse!! LOL
