I have just got home from playing a Gig in Southampton that we headlined. We played with 3 other bands and not one stayed until the end. Now I may be being a tad hard-hearted but it seems massively pretentious to turn up to a gig, as a young band, play your set and fuck off.

I had to endure 3 differing versions of Valerie by the Zutons. The least I expect is for the same bands that punished us with their music, stay around to be punished by our music.

If I have to listen to you play a cover of 'Im a believer' by the Monkees, then you have to stay and listen to our song about gay love between Federer and Nadal, ok?

As young bands, this is a bad habit to get into, sooner or later promoters will just stop booking you for being so far up your own arses. Think!

By the time we played, there were 7 people left. Mid-week gigs always end up this way.
2 of the crowd thought we were fantastic, the other 5 are our groupies :D

It reminds me of the days when my daughter was on the swim team, and always had to swim in the relays at the end. All the parents would leave after their child swam, and not stay to see even who won the meet, which I always thought was such bad sportsmanship.

Tell me more about your gay love song between Federer and Nadal.

It's based on the time Nadal beat federer at Wimbledon. Such love in their embrace at the end, a clear relationship waiting to flower.
I don't actually know the words, Liz sings all, I just make noise :D

bah! yeah that irritates the crap out of me too.
The whole "we`re done now so we`re off to the bar to look cool and get ego-humped by our friends" thing is super tedious.

showing respect and staying to the end was the 1st lesson we learned, it`s a shame that lesson hasn`t stayed the course :(
