Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have been using DS now for almost 4 yrs. I quit for a little bit then came back.
I like to think of it as my daily diary. It has helped me thru my worst times.
Even if just writing down your feelings everyday is all you do, it helps get it off your chest, especially if you are going thru alot of different things. On the days I'm actually doing good, I will just write about what I accomplished that day.
I have gotten alot of helpful advice from people here and seem to trust the nice complete strangers more here then I do presently around me. Praying for you and saying HANG IN THERE!
I am new here but definitely not new to feeling lonely and isolated. You're not alone, it just feels like it. One the weirdest things I have noticed for myself when I'm going through a depressive wave is how much my negative self-talk is a lie. It's a funny thing to tell myself something like that but it's true. I think you are writing on here because you know you will get some support. I am here. Other people are here too and know what's it's like. HUGS!!!
Also, I heard something that made sense to me. Positive, healthy, inspiring input is a lot like bathing. You have to do it daily for it to be effective. There were times when the only thing keeping me afloat in this world was talk shows and pod casts like The Ziglar Show, Les Brown's podcast or finding random inspirational things in a book or on Pinterest. I cannot believe I relied so heavily on an aspect of social media like Pinterest but I did. I just scrolled or read a real book until enough positive input spurred on positive output. It took a while but it saved my butt!
Breathe, don't give up. You are loved and supported at the very least by the strangers typing here. :-P It's ok to feel poopy. We all do at some point. Life is tough but loving support in your life doesn't have to be.
big hug to you all!!!!
