Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you think a person is setting themselves up to be destroyed? If you feel the love then how long do you wait to profess your feelings?
Im interested in hearing from both men and women. Im trying to distract my mind and I thought why not a controversial topic such as this.

I've experienced love at first sight so yes I agree it is possible, and it was my greatest love of all.

It has now been over a long time, but it is the love I have the fondest memories of.

I don't believe in love at first sight at all. I believe in damaged people emotionally latching on like a limpet to anyone that fits their criteria.

I believe in it!

The most obvious case, but not the type I think you are talking about, is when a parent sees their child for the first time. This can be a new-born right after birth, or it can be an adopted child.

More to the point, I knew my wife since we were both kids. The age difference was too much for us to date, or even be interested in each other, when we were in our teenage years. But after college induced time apart, we hit it off on our first date and have been together ever since. It will be 35 years next April!

I don't think love has happened to me immediately at first sight. Infatuation has. I will say that there is always a defining moment that I remember that I look at a person I am to love before it happens and realize that potentiality tho, usually soon after meeting them.

Usually after I have this moment of realizing love's possibility with someone I just file it away in my brain and wait until whatever is meant to happen happens.

I'm with bridgie this one.

I personally don't find myself fit to maintain a steady relationship. I don't like physical contact and I am useless at flirting and feel uncomfortable being flirted with. I'm just not sure how to respond.

As far as dating and courting goes, no I don't believe in love at first sight. However! I have experienced love at first sight recently, when my niece was born earlier this week. The moment I laid my eyes on her she immediately became more precious to me than words can describe.

I do believe in love at first sight or at least I knew immediately that this person was going to play a major roll in my life from the moment we first met. She was my deepest love I loved her more then anyone else I had ever been involved with. Was it a good thing though? no in the end it wasn't for us we found out to late after we married that we had nothing in common. and after 20 years of marriage that true love turned into deep resentments towards each other.

I think it's possible if both people are looking for it, if that makes sense. Sort of what Bridgie with emotional attaching etc. but I think that in some cases it actually is real if you know what your looking for and you see something special in that person or each other. It's difficult depends on what you think love is.

I may be in the minority with this opinion but I do not believe in love at
first sight. There can be a tremendous physical and chemical attraction
but real love takes time to develop.

When you first see someone you dont know anything about them.
I understand that my view is not romantic.

Not to be a buzz kill but Ted Bundy was an attractive man . That's one
thing that made him so deadly.

I understand pepperman's view about about seeing a newborn for the
first time, but in reality most parents love their children while they are
still in the womb...before first sight.

Wow quite a variety of views and Bontemps you have an opinion so no you are not in the minority or a buzz kill, in fact you have shared food for thought! Pepper...good for you and congrats on a healthy marriage!! Yes love has a different meaning for different people and yes there are different types of love at first sight a new born , a little puppy or maybe a tiny little kitten. I was originally thinking between 2 people and the start of an exclusive relationship. Thanks for sharing :)

SIGHT implies the EYES create love. The eyes create lust, hormones, phermones, stir up animal instincts.

Real love takes time and HONEST communication in conversations, to see if you have anything in common, to see if you're on the same page as far as what you want out of life and each other. After you've established that common ground, AND the eyes like what they see so you know sex will be bangin', then you've got a platform on which love can grow.
