Well isn't this exactly what I fucking needed right about now.... I've been struggling to keep myself from spiraling back down for months now because I know how much harder it is to get back up once you're there... and just yesterday I was told my contract was not going to be renewed at work. I am pissed off, I am sad, I am confused, I am in shock... not a good mix of emotions. I've been struggling enough with my self-esteem lately and this is a huge kick in the teeth.

Fuck all of this. Fuck it fuck it fuck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Part of me just wants to move somewhere new and start all over again from scratch.. but I spent my whole early twenties starting over, over and over again and I've finally found a city to call home and the best group of friends I've ever had... I can't imagine leaving.. but I can't see a future here now either. I dunno. Ugh.

Thanks Vet. I know I'll land on my feet again.. I always do.. it was just so unexpected! I work in politics and I had just gotten my boss through an election that we won with a decisive victory. In the two years I was with him I salvaged several broken relationships with community groups and designed and implemented his whole communications strategy, which is the envy of many of his colleagues and for which we even won an award. I feel used and betrayed. I thought that our relationship was more than just professional - I thought we were friends... I thought of him as a mentor and a father figure and he treated me like a niece.

I've been feeling the pull to move on for a little while now, but I had wanted to wait until the new year to give myself time to figure out what direction to take and to also provide some continuity to the office.

hmmmm. an honest politician. I don't think there are any. I agree with ThePepperman ... you have an outstanding resume .. and are very marketable ..... put your sights on another ... but don't count on him/her being honest. {:-}

I know it`s easy to be cynical of politicians, but I know many, many (Albertan) politicians personally and the bulk of them are genuinely good, caring people who love their communities. It`s the game that is fucked.

Try writing articles for skyword.com. You have a lot of knowledge, experience and expertise in your career that would be beneficial to others! It ain't a lot of money, but it's SOMETHING!

I've been making $100-$120 per 300-900 word article that I've written through them for 2 clients, IADT and Western Digital. It's been great!

Their writing platform is a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to SEO and other formatting parameters, but once you get the hang of it, it comes very easy. I can now crank out an article in an hour, maybe two.
