Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I applied with one and I had a job within a week, even though I hadn't worked in years.
Just a thought! I know it's hard out there. Keep your chin up and believe in your abilities.
Good luck. I hope things look up soon.
1. What kind of job are you looking for?
2. Will it be regular time, shift-work, unusual hours?
3. What are you actually DOING to find a job? Search engines? Networking with old contacts? Updating your skill-sets?...... What?
You can figure out the transport issue once you have a job, so just forget about the transportation issue for the moment as it's not on the 'critical path.'
Second, am I right in assuming that when you talk about transportation, it's not just getting to and from the same place of work everyday, but that your job requires you to drive to different sites for maintenance or whatever?
Third, are you personalizing every resume to match the job description? Do you include a cover letter (again, it should be personalized and ideally addressed to the hiring manager, so find out who that is). Your sole focus is to get an interview, so do not include it in resume or cover letter. However, when it comes up in discussion, don't focus on the 'what happened,' but rather focus on the solution you've put in place to address that. It may be that you'll have to use a taxi service or uber, or something, but because you're not driving, it gives you the opportunity to do paper-work between jobs. You just have to put the right 'spin' on it.
So,
1) Recognize what is in your control and what isn't
2) Personalize your resume and cover letter for EVERY job
3) Rehearse what you are going to say about the SOLUTION to your driving situation
