Take one day @ a time. It's not easy to go slow when in a new relationship. But it is the best way. It takes respect for one another to develop love. That's my opinion. Maybe you aren't ready for a LTC right now.

well, chicken little..by not having unrealistic expectations, perhaps. the potential for being hurt..is always there..in ALL aspects of life. but when you add fairy tale daydreams to it there's NO way anyone could meet your vision of what it's supposed to be. without sounding cynical, which, really i'm not..i'm always up for a back-up plan for my back-plan. i don't feel going blind into ANYTHING is wise. whenever we have unrealistic expectations for others AS WELL as for ourselves...we set them/ourselves up to fail.

Having alot of trust issues myself after my ex, i understand how you feel. Sometimes its just something tha has to be done, otherwise you will have an empty life like mine, which you dont want.

I'm not sure what love is. Paxil makes me very emotionless. I'm single and i chose to be because i do not feel able to 'love' someone. This make me a very lonley person which feeds back into my depression. I wish there was a way out of this 'isolation cycle' as i'm sure with a good partner or a good friend by my side my depression would be so much easier to live with.

Sometimes we just have to trust our own judgement and take a chance. No-one knows where 1 date will lead to but we all know where no dates lead to. It's scary and you could get hurt but it could also be the love of your life...

Same here. So bad. But with every failed relationship/friendship I have learned something - and am better able to protect myself the next time. And therefore better able to give a little more freely.
Every offer of love is not without risk - as in every taking of a new job, every buying of a new car or a new house, etc.
Sometimes you are greatly pleased with your investment, and other times, very disappointed.
And as time goes on, you learn to be a little more easily pleased and willing to overlook the small stuff, and a little more picky about the big stuff, and a little more able to tell the difference!!

There's no guarantee in any relationship that you'll find true love. A leap of faith? Possibly, but unless you take that leap, you may never know. Trust in your instincts and in time the fear will subside.
