HI everyone,

Anyone have any info on requesting a leave of Absence from your employer in Ontario, Canada? With the recent divorce of my best friend and wife...It\'s throw my Anxiety, panic, depression and Bi-Polar into a hell-ish life style. If i do not get help soon and be able to reanrange my life I will lose my job anyway...

Any advice in how i should approach my HR?

Talk to your doctor first. See if he will give you a letter stating that you need some time off for medical reasons. Also, check the Employment Canada website regarding medical leave. If your doctor will agree to you needing time off for medical reasons, they will pay you up to 12 weeks. Been there, done that. Good luck to you!

You will need to look into you companies policy with leave of absence. You can get your doctor to sign you off sick like I did (my pdoc) and they sent notes through to my work.
I was only parttime so no benefits from company, but still working on EI benefits. If you are really feel paralyzed and disabled you could also look into disability.
Some girls I know where covered through their work, whereas I had to apply for ODSP. Ontario Disability Support Program.
