Hi,
I've been going to a support group for a while, and I made a new friend. To be honest, I have had trouble making friends and keeping them in life, but it's a lot less trouble than it used to be.
Anyway, the person also became my hairstylist, and I had searched high and low for someone who could do a really good job with it. I was so glad I met someone who could actually cut my hair.
Well, I went to an event with the support group, and was pretty upset that night. I didn't intend to be that upset, and didn't know that my new friend was upstairs. I went up there, and she saw me all upset, talking to someone else. Sometimes, at the group, you can just head over to the place if something is really bothering you.
I really didn't want my new friend to see me in this state, but when I climbed up the stairs, she was there. She was nice and all of that, but I have not heard from her again. It's a been a couple of weeks and I just called her to say hello, and said it would be great if she could cut my hair again. I really liked it. She did not call back. That bugs me.
It really was out of my control. I didn't know she was going to be there and that it went down like that. But I kind of feel sad, embarrassed, like I screwed up a potential friend. It was unexpected.

I'm not sure I'm clear on all your post. . u went with your support group to the event, she was there, was she also in the support group? if so does she suffer from the same ailment? if so, she should understand. if not, and you just met recently, then seeing you like that probably freaked her out and she may not call. but there are other possibilities... how long has it been? maybe she is super busy and hasn't had a chance to call. maybe she is trying to figure out how to handle you and how she can help. maybe she I going through some stuff and just doesn't have it in her right now to try and take on yours. if she's new in your life, and doesn't call ..she isn't someone you really need anyway,. even if your good at hiding the hurt, eventually it will come out. I had a bff who was my friend for many years. went through a lot with me. she avoids and ignores me now. last time I talked to her I told her I was really down an had been corresponding with a suicide prevention site, to deal with my desire to die. she said in a exhausted and condescending tone "oh God!"..and got off the phone. friends and family can be supportive but at some point they have given all they can and just don't have any more

Well it certainly is not your fault really. Although you cant control yourself doesnt mean that it ruined a potential friendship. In every moment there is a new future to alter by any means. So for now dont think too much of it, just try your best to move on and keep searching. Good friends are hard to come by but when they are found they are well worth the wait and effort.

Maybe she is just going through her own stuff right now. May I suggest you not base your friendship on just the haircuts? I mean I know your not but that is how it may sound to your friend. Just tell her the truth, that you did not want her to see you all upset.

Yeah, she is not calling me back. All I really needed was a good stylist and it took forever to find it, after looking goofy for six months. I don't think she is going to cut my hair now because she ran into me that way. I didn't know she was going to be there.
