Hi there! Whay are these people coming into your home in the first place?

It's time to put your foot down and send then on their way to finding a home of their own, IMHO.

they have 2 daughters both married one drinks a lot and the other husbands wants nothing to do with them. the doctor said they could not live alone because they are both up in age but still in fair health. so we decided to take them at first wasn't too bad until they wanted to take over. I am so depressed i just wish i could just go somewhere and hide forever.

Hmm maybe then look into an assisted living facility/nursing home?

There's obligations to support family members especially when children or the elderly are involved. The music? I pod and ear buds. Is the father in law tipping over the edge? Your not wrong if it's your home or your name is on the lease. Nip it in the bud today. Further disturbing incidents will only perpetuate the situation. So in your efforts to be supportive they owe you to have an exit strategy. You know the ole saying family and fish. In my house I have my older sister and my girlfriend and her son. It isn't going to change anytime soon so I insist that we come together as a group. I feel we are better off as a group than as one. Mortgage, bills, etc. all current and there is food in the fridge. It's your life. Don't let others ruin it or make you feel uncomfortable. A lot of situations in life require flexibility, but this is your sanity. It's worth it to lay down the law today. Good luck.

It's nothing worse than feeling trapped! However plan to have a calm conversation with your husband and get his understanding and support. And then the both of you together address the situation. dear hate living I feel the same way a lot of times. I have no family of my own left and it really hurts.

How old is he? He's obviously abled enough to be moving things around, opening windows, blasting music...perhaps their own apartment close by might be a better solution?

pati22 he is going to be 97 in august in sound mind he just loves to play loud music. she is going to 89 in july. that is why the doctor said they csnt be left alone

Taking care of elderly relatives is defiantly one of the hardest things anyone can face. I certainly can see where it can be stressful. I used to work non emergency medical transport and I can attest to the fact that some nursing homes are god awful. The more money you have the better the living conditions. Staff for the most part are pleasant and sympathetic, but woefully under paid. Theft is rampant. The smell in some of those places is also awful. So bless you for taking care of your relatives. It's a sad fact that we will all be that way someday. The more help you have the better. Keep me posted. I'm going to friend you as well.

Have you considered getting a shed or storage facility to put a bunch of their stuff in? Sounds like a hearing loss has led to the volume of the music. Maybe a neighbor will complain. Agree that looking for some assistance, or if there is a seniors daycare, that may add to your peace of mind. Hugs.

You have two ethical options … let them stay in your home …. which may turn out to be impossible or put them in 'assisted living' which would be expensive …. but a much better arrangement.
