Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Try not to beat yourself up too much about it, remember, your not any less of a person simply because you haven't figured things out yet. Everybody figures things out in their own way and time. You are a lovely person, you just needed someone to remind you of that.
Big huggs :)

I will be 70 in April. I own a house and am in the process of buying a 2nd one ... on a lake ... with a boat dock. I have 3 motorcycles, and am restoring a British sports car. I have a dog I adore and who is healthy and smart, ... and adores me. I fix other people's computers ... for free ... a career that has turned into a hobby. To stay up with the technology, I manage 10 different computers in my home .. on my home network. I am a volunteer CL here on DS. I participate in a couple of VETERANS programs ... to benefit myself and other VETERANS.
I don't drink, do drugs, or anything else that is stoopid (not that you do ... this is a reply describing ME). I am pro gun and own MANY ... it is another hobby. I hunt paper targets, tin cans, and other trash. I do not kill things ... in PRACTICE. I am highly PREPARED to if it becomes necessary. I open carry ... which .. leads to some social opportunities .. gun club, shooting range socializing, gun SAFETY, other elements within the 'culture'.
I TRY to be a good Christian ... which if chosen to do, is a full time effort. That alone keeps me quite busy.
Stagnant? Can't say as I am.
Yes, the mortgage was going down. Yes, the kids were doing well in school. yes, the plants were growing.
It was just not visible to the naked eye.
If you are stagnating that is a wonderful time, to sit and relax, and wonder what you'd like to do now. What would you like to add into your life?
Is it career? Would you like to take a night paper and improve your prospects?
Is it home? Would you like to put a garden in, or build that deck?
When's the last time you threw a party? When's the last time you hired a campervan and went touring? When is the last time you indulged yourself in doing something fun?
Get out into the world. Go swim in a river, or hike up a mountain. I was riding my bike home from work on Friday last week when a thunderstorm hit. I was drenched in 20 seconds, surrounded by lightning, It was AMAZING. I loved it.
I will soon 73, live alone and work 6 days a week
I have been struggling with depression for more than three years; not because of any particular thing but a long series of things one after another that keeps pushing back or down.
Family disputes, unexpected home repairs, I have been the victim in 4 car crashes; I had a light stroke that has affected my memory and judgment. 2 unmarried grandchildren have laid eggs without building a nest.. TWICE! I could go on.
The problem is whenever something happens that I feel is unfair I do something foolish, become my own worst enemy and make matters worse.
I am in therapy and attended anger management meetings for a while until it started getting dark so early. I will resume that in a couple of weeks now that daylight hours are starting to get longer.
